Report: Critical injury update emerges on former Notre Dame star Ronnie Stanley

The Baltimore Ravens and fans of the team just received an update on one of the star offensive players who went down last season. All-Pro offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley missed nearly all of last season after undergoing ankle surgery following week one. And according to a recent check-up report, the former Notre Dame Fighting Irish star lineman should be ready For the 2022 season.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport revealed the information on the Ravens’ offensive tackle’s prognosis on Monday.

“Ravens All-Pro OT Ronnie Stanley received a medical check-up recently and he’s on pace to be ready for 2022, sources say. Stanley played just one game last year then had another ankle surgery. He’ll be monitored throughout the summer, but there is optimistic he’ll be good to go,” wrote Rapoport via Twitter.

For the second year in a row, the Ravens’ star left tackle failed to appear in the majority of the games in the season. In 2020 Stanley appeared in just six games before undergoing his first ankle surgery. Before the injury bug bit him over the past two seasons, the former first-round pick in the 2016 draft had been a monster in the trenches for the Ravens. Over his first five years, Stanley was in on more than 95 percent of the offensive snaps for Baltimore. that consistency plus his ability as a mauler in the Ravens’ running game culminated in his first Pro Bowl and all-pro selection in 2019.

Steelers pick up former Ravens WR Miles Boykin

It did not take long for former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Miles Boykin to find a new home. According to NFL insider Mike Garafolo, Boykin has been claimed off waivers by one of the Ravens’ archrivals in, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Ravens parted ways with their wideout on Monday after failing to trade him recently, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Boykins was the Ravens’ third-round pick back in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. The former Fighting Irish star saw limited field action in his final season with the Ravens after starting the year on the injured reserve list with a hamstring injury.

Before last season, Boykin appeared to be an up-and-coming weapon in the Ravens’ passing game. Over his first two seasons with the Ravens, he recorded 32 catches for 464 yards and seven touchdowns. Boykin finished the 2021 season with only one catch on one target or six yards over eight games.

For the Steelers, this signing gives them more depth at an already loaded position. Boykin’s six-foot-four frame makes him an excellent red-zone threat for whoever lines up at quarterback for the Steelers.
