Brian Robinson details his road back to the field after first NFL win, touchdown
Brian Robinson played hero on Thursday night, scoring the game-winning touchdown for the Washington Commanders. In a vacuum, it’s the first career score for a rookie running back out of Alabama in a primetime football game. But with the story of Robinson, getting that touchdown meant a whole lot more.
Amazon brought Robinson onto their postgame show to talk about the journey he’s been through to get to where he is. Less than two months ago, the running back was shot in the lower part of his body. Now, he’s scoring touchdowns in the NFL and helping his team win crucial games.

“Staying determined for what I believe in,” Robinson said when asked how he got back onto the field. “My biggest goal was to get back on the football field. I was looking for any opportunity that came my way but I was ready for it. Week in and week out. Every day, I came in prepared to get myself back healthy and have an opportunity like this. It wasn’t easy at all.”
Robinson was the Commanders’ leading rusher on the night, finishing with 60 yards. He was also the only touchdown scorer and it turned out to be an important one. With just under eight minutes remaining, Robinson punched it in before Washington’s defense made a late goal-line stand.
Brian Robinson thanks teammates for support
A lot is going on off the field in Washington but the locker room was still something Robinson was able to lean back on. He thanked every one of his teammates for pushing him back and helping him stay in the right mindset.

“I’m just so thankful and appreciative for all those guys in the locker room,” Robinson said. “They showed me nothing but love that whole time. I can’t do anything but thank them for helping me get back on my feet, push me every day I get back in the building. Just telling me God got a purpose for me and just keep going. My time will come. I stayed true to that, prepared every day. Now, look at us.”
The NFL is not the only place Robinson had to be patient to make his name known. He was consistently buried on the depth chart while at Alabama before having a breakout senior season. Robinson eventually earned a third-round draft selection and ended up in Washington.
Even more controversy had to strike while preparing to make his NFL debut but Robinson pushed through. He’s now greatly being rewarded with game-winning touchdowns.
