Former Kansas City Chiefs assistant coach, and son of head coach Andy Reid, Britt Reid received a sentence of three years in prison for a DWI accident in 2020 which left a young child in a coma. The judge’s decision fell short of the four years recommended by prosecutors as part of the plea deal.

Reid acknowledged getting drunk at the team facility in 2020 before driving home with a .113 blood alcohol concentration. During the drive home, the hit two parked vehicles on the side of an interstate ramp while going 84 miles per hour.

Felicia Miller, the mother of 6-year old Ariel Young, spoke in front of Circuit Judge Charles H. McKenzie and asked for a sentence longer than the recommended four years. She detailed the lingering effects on the family, along with physical impairments and special education her daughter deals with now.

The crime carried a maximum sentence of seven years.
