Former NFL MVP quarterback Cam Newton did not play a single snap in the 2022-2023 season. But he is out to prove he still has what it takes to be a quarterback at the highest level. And he made a strong case as to why he should still be in the league at the Auburn Tigers Pro-Day.

Newton connected on multiple passes during the event. In the video below, you can check out a handful of the dimes he dropped on Tuesday at his alma mater. The video also includes one of his two reported 60-plus yard completions at the Pro-Day.

The last time Newton was on an NFL field was in 2021, almost two years ago. The 2015 NFL Most Valuable Player was in his second go around with the team that selected him in the 2011 Draft, the Carolina Panthers. However, his second stint in Carolina was mainly tough to witness. Newton played in eight games in 2021 and started in five games for the Panthers. Sadly, Carolina was 0-5 in the games that he started and 1-7 in the eight games. Newton finished the season with 684 passing and 230 rushing yards, completed 69 of 126 pass attempts (a 54.76 completion percentage), four touchdowns through the air and five on the ground, five interceptions, and fumbled five times.

To say that Newton’s last time on an NFL field was far from his best work would be a fair assessment. But the former Tiger, Panther, and Patriot is looking for a chance at redemption this upcoming season. Suppose he can keep connecting on passes like in the video. In that case, Newton will at least earn an opportunity to show he’s still got something left in the tank and participate in a franchise’s training camp this summer.

Newton reveals he will throw at Auburn Pro Day

Newton announced from his social media account that he would be taking part in Auburn’s pro-day on March 21. And he did so with a video where he didn’t mince words about his absence from the league last season.

With no team seemingly wanting his services this past season and seeing other quarterbacks with less star power getting shots throughout the league instead of him, Newton had some choice words during his pro day announcement before dropping some highlights on a recent workout.

“Tell me how these randoms keep getting jobs? Don’t worry about it, imma show you. I can’t wait to show you. I love it. I love it,” Newton said. “… I’m seeing a lot of people toying with the idea, and it’s official. I will be throwing at Auburn’s Pro Day.”
