Carl Edwards explains decision to join NASCAR broadcast booth, emotions before debut

Carl Edwards will be part of NASCAR’s broadcast team for Prime Video and is ready for the next chapter in his career. While speaking with Dale Earnhardt Jr. on Dale Jr. Download, Edwards explained his decision to become a NASCAR broadcaster.
“All the pieces just lined up perfectly here,” Edwards told Earnhardt. “Sitting here talking to you, that’s one of the pieces. That call that I made to you about doing this with Amazon Prime, I know you and Steve [Letarte] are leading the charge … I was really calling you to say, ‘Hey, you want me to be a part of this or not?’ The first thing you said is basically, ‘Hey, we want to do this as a team. We want to build each other up, we want to be a family,’ and it’s exactly what I was hoping. You took the words that I was hoping you would say, and you just said them.”
Carl Edwards continued, “My family getting to be at the track with me and share all this at an age where my kids are old enough to understand what’s really going on to be around all these great people, that’s a big part. They’re pumped.” Edwards then talked about being welcomed back at Darlington and being inducted into the Hall of Fame as other reasons he returned to NASCAR.
What will Carl Edwards’ role be on Prime Video’s NASCAR coverage?
“It’s all just perfect timing,” he stated. “For me, it’s obvious that I’m supposed to come back and be a part of this. I don’t know what it will turn into, but it feels good. I’m excited, it’s going to be fun … I couldn’t be more excited about it.”

Edwards will be part of Prime Video’s pre and post-race studio show with NASCAR driver Corey LaJoie and host Danielle Trotta. He was added to the roster this week along with Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne, and experienced pit reporters Kim Coon and Marty Snider.
“We’re thrilled to introduce Carl, Trevor, Kim, and Marty to our NASCAR on Prime Video team,” Alex Strand, Sr. coordinating producer at Prime Video, said in a press release. “Carl’s Hall-of-Fame career, combined with the extensive experience of Trevor, Kim, and Marty, bring an unparalleled authenticity to our coverage. Their deep knowledge and genuine passion will resonate with fans and elevate the NASCAR viewing experience. We look forward to showcasing our entire announce team when we debut in just a few short months.”
