Panthers release final injury report ahead of game against Cardinals
The Carolina Panthers released their final injury report Friday afternoon. Carolina is getting ready to take on Arizona Sunday afternoon.
Quarterback Sam Darnold is no longer on the injury report after being placed on injured reserve Friday morning. He’ll be out at least four weeks as he deals with his shoulder injury. PJ Walker will get the start at quarterback on Sunday and it sounds like Cam Newton will start at some point after re-signing with Carolina on Thursday.
Carolina takes on Arizona Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET.
Panthers vs. Cardinals injury report
Out — CB Stantley Thomas-Oliver (toe), CB Rashaan Melvin (hand)
Carolina’s cornerback depth will be tested without Stantley Thomas-Oliver and Rashaan Melvin. Thomas-Oliver didn’t practice at all this week and Melvin was limited. Still, neither will be able to go against Arizona on Sunday.
Luckily, Stephon Gilmore and CJ Henderson don’t have injury designations. Gilmore was limited Thursday and Friday with a quad injury, but Henderson practiced in full all week despite a shoulder injury. That should help the Panthers secondary with Thomas-Oliver and Melvin on the sideline.
Questionable — DE Brian Burns (foot), LB Frankie Luvu (knee)
Brian Burns left last week’s game against New England twice with a foot injury, but was a full participant on Friday. That’s a great sign considering he didn’t practice on Wednesday and was limited on Thursday. Still, he’s questionable for Sunday’s game.

Frankie Luvu didn’t practice on Wednesday, but was limited Thursday and Friday. That’s why he’s questionable for Sunday as he comes back from a knee injury.
Arizona hasn’t released its final injury report yet, but there were some big names on the list this week. Quarterback Kyler Murray and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins haven’t practiced all week, which doesn’t bode well since neither played last week. However, Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury declared Murray a “game-time decision” on Friday.
Safety Budda Baker also hasn’t practiced as he comes back from a concussion and knee injury. Running back Chase Edmonds is still dealing with an ankle injury and was a DNP Wednesday and Thursday, as well.
Carolina and Arizona will square off Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET on FOX.
