Carolina Panthers release Wednesday injury report, center Pat Elflein to undergo surgery
One week after sweeping changes, the Carolina Panthers released a lengthy injury report on Wednesday. Among the names is one who could be a big contributor after the Christian McCaffrey trade.
Chuba Hubbard, who started last week’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, missed Wednesday’s practice with an ankle injury. He left that game against Tampa Bay after totaling nine carries for 63 yards and a touchdown.
Additionally, the Panthers announced center Pat Elflein will undergo surgery after suffering a hip injury. He was recently added to the injury report and Bradley Bozeman appears primed to take over his spot in the starting lineup. That’s a hit for the offensive line, which saw two players miss Wednesday’s practice as it prepares for its first change in personnel of the season.

Hubbard is the biggest name to miss practice following Carolina’s decision to trade McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers. He, along with D’Onta Foeman, appear poised to take on bigger roles in the backfield, but Hubbard’s ankle injury could mean more pressure on Foreman going forward.
Limited participants: DT Matthew Ioannidis (concussion), CB Donte Jackson (ankle), LB Frankie Luvu (shoulder), LB Arron Mosby (hamstring), S Sean Chandler (hamstring), DB Myles Hartsfield (hamstring), CB Jaycee Horn (ribs), LB Cory Littleton (groin)
Plenty of big names were limited on Wednesday, including Luvu, who’s tied for second on the Panthers’ roster in tackles.
