The Carolina Panthers released their first injury report on Wednesday ahead of a Week 5 matchup with the San Francisco 49ers. Four players were listed as non-participants, including star running back Christian McCaffrey.

However, there won’t be much to worry about regarding McCaffrey’s status, as the Panthers listed “rest” as the reason for his absence on Wednesday.

Safety Xavier Woods, however, is one player Carolina fans will want to worry about. He missed Wednesday with a hamstring injury, which is huge news considering the Panthers sent fellow safety James Chinn to injured reserve earlier in the day.

Woods has played a hefty role for the Carolina defense thus far, having already totaled 30 tackles through four games. The Panthers already elevated safety Juston Burris from the practice squad after the news on Chinn.

Carolina is 1-3 so far this season and will kick off against the 49ers at 4:05 p.m. ET Sunday at home. You can view the full Panthers injury report below.

The Panthers secondary could really be in trouble Sunday, as Thomas-Oliver joins Woods as a non-participant Wednesday. Shenault was also held out after he suffered a setback to his hamstring injury on Sunday.

Limited participants — DE Marquis Haynes (knee), LB Frankie Luvu (shoulder), LB Shaq Thompson (knee)

Things continue to look murky for the Panthers defense, as three more players were limited participants in Wednesday’s practice. All three of Haynes, Luvu and Thompson played last week, but keep an eye on it just to be safe. Luvu, Woods and Thompson are the top three tacklers on the team.

Full participants — TE Stephen Sullivan (back)

Sullivane rounds out the report by himself as the only injured player to log a full practice. His impact this season has been minor, though, as he has just one catch for 13 yards.
