Carolina Panthers sign defensive back TJ Carrie to active roster
The Carolina Panthers signed defensive back TJ Carrie to the active roster on Tuesday, adding the veteran defensive back to the 53-man roster. Carrie had been elevated from the practice squad and played in the past few games for the Panthers.
Carrie played on defense and special teams for the Panthers in the last two games, a loss to the Baltimore Ravens and then a win over the Denver Broncos. Against the Broncos, Carrie forced and recovered a fumble.
In a corresponding move to fill the open spot on the practice squad, the Panthers have signed quarterback Davis Cheek. The Panthers were likely looking for a quarterback after granting the request of former No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield and releasing him.
