The start of the 2023 offseason has yet to commence, and the Dallas Cowboys have already made waves after parting ways with their former offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. With Moore out of Dallas and moving on to become the new play caller for the Los Angeles Chargers, that leaves Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy to call the plays next season. And while some around the league are wondering how that will look next season, Dallas’ star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb says he is ‘ready’ for the new offense. During a recent interview on ESPN Sportscenter, the Cowboys offensive star shared his thoughts on McCarthy, the playcaller.

“I’m ready to go get it, regardless of who’s calling the plays. Me and my guys in the receiver room, we’re going to do our end on the outside on the perimeter and that’s to get this offense moving the ball and scoring touchdowns.”

Last season as the Cowboys’ number one receiver, Lamb had himself a career year. The third-year player boasted career highs in receptions, yards, and touchdowns while Moore was calling the plays. And with McCarthy reportedly taking over playcalling duties next season, expect Lamb’s presence in the offense to remain consistent. Dallas has a true star at their wide receiver one position, and Lamb is ready to prove it for a second straight season, regardless of who’s calling the plays.

Jimmy Johnson agrees with Dallas Cowboys sticking with Mike McCarthy

Former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson backed his former team’s decision to stick with Mike McCarthy – even with the prospect of Sean Payton on the table. The FOX studio analyst apparently sees little difference between the two one-time Super Bowl-winning coaches.

McCarthy and Payton won their Super Bowls just one year apart with the Saints winning in 2009 and the Packers winning it all in 2010.

“When you look at the numbers, Mike McCarthy and Sean’s numbers are very similar,” Johnson said this week. “I think both are outstanding football coaches, and so it could be a good fit with Mike calling the plays and taking over the offense. But when you just compare the two, it’s hard to pick, because they’re both outstanding.”

After he won the Super Bowl, Payton went 6-7 in playoff games. McCarthy is 6-8 in the postseason since his win.

Dallas had the opportunity to make a move for Payton before he accepted the job with the Broncos. However, it could have been extremely costly, and for what Johnson believes is a similar product.
