Chicago Bears wide receiver David Moore arrested on gun, drug charges

Chicago Bears wide receiver David Moore was arrested on gun and drug charges in Texas on July 4, according to KXII News 12 in Texoma, Texas. The incident occurred near his hometown of Gainesville, Texas.

Prior to his arrest, David Moore signed a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears after splitting time between the Denver Broncos and Green Bay Packers in 2021. He started his career with four seasons on the Seattle Seahawks after being selected in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

The arrest also marks the third for a Bears player this offseason, following wide receiver Byron Pringle and linebacker Matthew Adams. All three players were recently added by first-year general manager Ryan Poles during the free agency period

Chicago Bears see signs of improvement from Justin Fields

Justin Fields is coming into his own as he prepares for his second NFL season in Chicago.

Blame Matt Nagy, rookie jitters or an uneven roster — Fields showed flashes last season, but was far from the star that shined so bright at Ohio State. However, the sophomore quarterback is coming into his second season ready to prove why he was such a lauded commodity, as he teammates are speaking highly of his progress.

“You just feel him in the huddle,” tight end Cole Kmet told Courtney Cronin of ESPN, per Pro Football Talk. “He’s not just repeating the play, he’s telling you the play, and there’s a difference in that.

“That gives me confidence as a player out in the field. He’s talking to each guy. It’s not just a repeat-a-play, he’s telling us a play, which is a difference.”

Last season, Fields was hampered by an ineffective offensive scheme, and many believed switching head coaches could actually have a positive impact on the young quarterback. Evidently, that’s the case — while Chicago hired a defensive minded coach in former Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus, former Packers assistant and new Bears offensive coordinator Luke Getsy is now calling the shots on offense.

Evidently, Getsy’s offense is coming more natural to Fields, and even the defensive side of the football is noticing a difference in the quarterback.

“He has a commanding leadership on the field, a legit field general,” defensive tackle Justin Jones said. “He gets guys wound up, gets guys going.”

Justin Fields is the unquestioned starter — and the unquestioned future in Chicago. He’ll have to begin to prove that he’s worthy in 2022, and it looks like the Bears quarterback is on the right track.
