The Kansas City Chiefs are officially re-signing former Florida State star defensive lineman Derrick Nnadi to a one-year deal, according to an announcement on Twitter from his agents at SportsTrust Advisors. The Chiefs selected him in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Last season, Nnadi racked up 38 tackles, two tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, and three sacks in 17 games. Throughout his four-year career with the Chiefs, he’s tallied 168 tackles, four sacks, five tackles for loss, and seven quarterback hits.
Nnadi played for the Florida State Seminoles from 2014-2017. Coming out of Ocean Lakes High School (Virginia Beach, Virginia), he suited up in the U.S. Army All-American Game and was one of the highest rated prospects in America. One of his best seasons for the Seminoles came in 2016, when he earned first team All-ACC honors. Nnadi finished fifth on the team with 49 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. In 2017, he was named a third-team All-ACC selection. In 13 games during that season, he racked up 53 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and 3.5 sacks.
The Chiefs made quite the splash in free agency a few days ago when they reeled in another pass-catching weapon to complement Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce, Juju Smith-Schuster.

Set to enter his sixth NFL season in 2022, Smith-Schuster has established himself as a reliable receiving threat. He burst onto the scene during his second year in 2018, leading the Steelers with 111 receptions and 1,426 yards receiving. The receiver earned a Pro Bowl appearance that season alongside Pittsburgh teammate Antonio Brown.
Smith-Schuster will make a base salary of $3.25 million, with $2.49 million being guaranteed. Of that guaranteed number, $1.455 million comes from a signing bonus. He also has a roster bonus of $30,000 per game, or up to $510,000. The former USC Trojan can earn up to $7.5 million in additional money through incentives. However, that additional $7.5 million is not guaranteed.
