Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Chris Godwin will not return to Sunday’s game against Dallas after suffering a leg injury, NBC sideline reporter Melissa Stark confirmed on the broadcast.

“The Buccaneers get the ball to start the second half, but they will be without their Pro Bowl wide receiver Chris Godwin,” Stark said. “He was questionable coming into this game because he tore that ACL and MCL in his right knee in Week 15 of last year, but he is out for the rest of the game.”

According to the broadcast, the injury is to Godwin’s hamstring.

Fellow Tampa Bay receiver Mike Evans also appeared to suffer a leg injury Sunday evening against Dallas. Evans was seen on the sideline with his helmet off late in the second quarter, and was considered questionable to return in the second half.

“(Tom) Brady stopped on the sideline to talk to Mike Evans after coming off the field,” Yahoo! NFL reporter Charles Robinson tweeted. “Evans had his helmet off on that drive and never close to going back in. Something definitely wrong.”

Evans later re-entered the game and went on to catch the first touchdown of the game with 3:23 remaining in the third quarter. He showed no ill effects on the play, making an incredible one-handed grab as he fell backward into the end zone.

Prior to his exit, Godwin had caught three passes for 35 yards. Tampa Bay has yet to score a touchdown and led the Cowboys by a score of 12-3 at halftime.

Despite playing in two less games than Evans last season, Godwin led all Buccaneers receivers with 98 catches for 1,103 yards and five touchdowns. With that in mind, Tampa Bay will hope he can make a quick return to the field.

Godwin’s next chance to play will come in Week 2, when Tampa Bay takes on New Orleans at 1 p.m. ET next Sunday.
