Christian McCaffrey absent from injury report, cleared to play Sunday
Good news for Carolina Panthers fans: Christian McCaffrey was a full participant in practice on Thursday and Friday and carries no injury designation into the weekend. He was a late add to the report on Thursday after not appearing there Wednesday.
McCaffrey landed on the injury report earlier this week with a shin issue, but is now on track to play at full speed in the season opener against the Cleveland Browns. Tight end/fullback Giovanni Ricci and kicker Eddy Piñeiro are also good to go this weekend, carrying no injury designation into the game on the Panthers’ injury report.
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo noted on Twitter that McCaffrey got cleated on Thursday.
McCaffrey is one of the most dangerous players out of the backfield in the NFL when healthy, but that’s been a challenge as the running back has played in 10 games across the last two seasons. Hopefully his quick bounce back this week is a sign of things to come.
More from the Wednesday injury reports
The Panthers opened Wednesday’s practice with good fortune on the injury report, with just two players listed with hip injuries. Kicker Eddy Pineiro was a full participant on Wednesday, while tight end Giovanni Ricci was limited but not held out completely.
