CJ Henderson misses Panthers training camp after rolling ankle
Panthers cornerback CJ Henderson missed Saturday’s training camp after rolling his ankle during Friday’s practice, Panthers head coach Matt Rhule told reports Saturday. Rhule said that the injury isn’t anything too serious, and expects his starting cornerback back in the lineup by the end of next week.
Henderson was traded to the Panthers from Jacksonville early in the 2021 season after spending his first one and a half full seasons with the Jaguars after being a first-rounder in the 2020 NFL Draft. Henderson would go on to play 10 games for the Panthers in 2021, logging 31 tackles and two passes defended.
Henderson’s injury comes shortly after the Panthers activated 2021 first-round corner and former South Carolina standout Jaycee Horn, from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
Marquis Haynes carted off Panthers’ practice, suffers apparent leg injury
Former Ole Miss standout edge rusher Marquis Haynes was carted off the Panthers’ practice field Saturday morning with a left-leg injury. Carolina head coach Matt Rhule said after practice that it was too early to tell the significance of the injury.

“I have no update on Marquis. We have to get all the testing and all that,” head coach Matt Rhule said, via the team’s website. “We’ll get you something as soon as we know.”
The former fourth-rounder’s injury occurred during an intra-squad scrimmage and immediately favored the area around his knee. Teammates Brian Burns and Matt Ioannidis were on the scene to help place the 235-pounder onto the cart before being taken to get checked out by the Panthers’ training staff.
Haynes totaled eight sacks through his first four seasons in the NFL, including a career-best three last year alongside a career-high 20 tackles.
