Cooper Rush asked about QB controversy with Dak Prescott

The notion of a “quarterback controversy” in Dallas got Cowboys fans talking after Jerry Jones’ comments. But as Cooper Rush won his second straight start on Monday night, the noise appears to be getting louder as Dak Prescott works his way back.

Rush had quite an answer about the situation after Dallas’ win over the New York Giants.

“Well, I keep winning,” Rush told ESPN’s Lisa Salters. “As long as I’m in there, let’s just keep winning, playing smart, trusting each other, both sides of the ball and we’ll be alright.”

Since Prescott’s Week 1 injury, Rush has started the Cowboys’ last two games — victories over the Cincinnati Bengals and the Giants, both in primetime. He has thrown for 450 yards and two touchdowns in both starts, and he’ll more than likely have a chance to build on those numbers Sunday when Dallas takes on the Washington Commanders.

Dak Prescott ‘not ruling out’ a return against Washington

When Dak Prescott exited the season opener against Tampa Bay, Dallas feared they would be without their quarterback for an extended amount of time. Ever since then, the injury news has been progressively more positive.

The latest came on Monday, with Prescott getting a stitch removed from his thumb.

ESPN’s Lisa Salters gave the latest update, talking about what the stitch removal meant for his return to football. Prescott is now hoping to grip and football and even get some throws in. While it may not seem like a lot, it’s progress for the Cowboys.

“He got the one long stitch removed from his surgically repaired right thumb,” Salters said. “That stitch was taken out this afternoon, here at the stadium. There’s still some swelling in his thumb but he said it feels great. He was going to talk to the doctor right after and hopefully, start gripping and throwing the football again.”
