Cooper Rush may not replace Dak Prescott in Dallas, but he’s doing his best to make Cowboys’ fans remember him.

When Rush took over for an injured Prescott after a Week 1 loss, many believes disaster was coming for the Cowboys. However, Dallas has continued to win, ripping off three straight victories under Rush’s guidance.

First, the backup quarterback led a thrilling victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. Then, the New York Giants felt Rush’s wrath, as he sent fans home disappointed from a Monday Night Football showdown. Finally, the Cowboys advanced to 2-0 in the NFC East with Rush at the helm on Sunday, defeating the Washington Commanders in Dallas.

Add that to Rush’s victory from the 2021 season over the Minnesota Vikings, and he’s now joined a very interesting club.

“According to the NFL, Rush is the first quarterback in NFL to win each of his first four career starts with a passer rating of 90 or higher in each of the four wins,” wrote Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. “He also has joined a very specifically obscure club. He’s the sixth undrafted quarterback in the Super Bowl era to win his first four starts, joining Kurt Warner, Kyle Allen, Dieter Brock, John Stofa, and Mike Tomczak.”

Indisputably, it’s crazy to see Rush play so well for the Cowboys, but it’s evident he’s comfortable in Kellen Moore’s offense, and he simply doesn’t try to do too much. It may not land him the Cowboys starting job, but he may have made himself a lot of money as a high-level backup or bridge quarterback in the NFL moving forward.

Thus far in relief of Prescott, Rush has amassed 737 passing yards and four touchdowns, while completing 60.8% of his passes and throwing zero interceptions. Additionally, his passer rating is a great 95.9, stuffing the stat sheet over three games.

Nevertheless, Dak Prescott could return as soon as Week 6 against the Philadelphia Eagles, but it’s tough to argue with fans who won’t be as patient with him. Cooper Rush keeps winning, and if Prescott doesn’t do so when he returns, the clamoring for him to takeover the Cowboys will begin.
