Dallas Cowboys’ rookie defensive end Sam Williams was reportedly involved in a serious car crash on Thursday in Plano, Texas. Both Williams and the other driver were taken to the hospital as a precaution, but thankfully they didn’t appear to have serious injuries, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic. Following the crash, Williams let everyone know that he was okay via his Twitter page on Thursday night.

“I’m okay so is the other person that was involved,” Williams posted on his Twitter page. This season, the former Ole Miss star has already racked up 20 tackles, three sacks, and one forced fumble for the Cowboys.

Dallas plays against the Philadelphia Eagles on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. Kickoff for that one is slated for 4:25 PM EST.

Coming out of high school, Williams was a former four-star recruit according to the On3 Consensus rankings, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. His path to Ole Miss came through the JUCO level, as he was one of the highest rated junior college prospects in 2019. He received first-team JUCO All-American honors at Northeast Mississippi Community College with 17.5 sacks — a talent that also followed him to Oxford with the Rebels.

Williams enjoyed a highly decorated college career with Ole Miss

In 2019, Williams led Ole Miss with six sacks and 9.5 tackles for a loss, as well as recording an interception and forced fumble. He was suspended for part of the 2020 season after being charged with sexual battery, although the charges would be dropped soon after.

He returned to the field and led the Rebels again with four sacks. His best season came in 2021, as Williams tallied 12.5 sacks — a school record — with 16 tackles for a loss and forcing four fumbles. He left Ole Miss with third-team AP All-American and first-team All-SEC honors.
