Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard is expected to play against the New York Giants on Sunday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. But, Dallas could have a slightly more cautious approach with him due to the injury.

Pollard is currently listed as questionable with a foot injury, so his ability to play in the game could be a decent boost for the Cowboys’ offense. However, it’s tough to predict just how effective he will be.

The former Memphis product has been absolutely stellar in the 2021 campaign and has made play after play for the Cowboys. He even returned a kick for a touchdown in the Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Day game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Tony Pollard 2021 stats

Thus far this year, Pollard has gashed opposing defenses to the tune of 602 rushing yards on just 107 attempts, averaging 5.6 yards per carry. His 5.6 yards per carry currently place him fourth in the NFL. Pollard has also demonstrated that he’s one of the best pass-catching backs in the league, hauling in 31 catches for 259 receiving yards. He’s averaging 8.4 yards per catch.

He’s one of the most efficient running backs in the league on a per touch basis and he continues to prove that time and time again. Pollard ripped off a 58-yard touchdown run against the New Orleans Saints earlier this year.

On that run, he was clocked at a top speed of 21.17 miles per hour, the fastest speed reached by a Cowboys’ ball-carrier this season and it was the second-straight week that Pollard set a career-high in speed. Needless to say, he’s having a career year.

Cowboys fans are hoping he can get healthy for the upcoming playoffs. He’s a critical piece to their offense and an incredibly explosive asset in both the running game and passing game.

For now, fans will cross their fingers that he can be moderately effective on Sunday against the Giants.
