Dak Prescott comments on Amari Cooper's decision not to get vaccination
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott commented about teammate Amari Cooper being out for the game on Sunday, and his vaccination status. The Cowboys were without Cooper in their 19-9 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Cooper is forced to wait a minimum of ten days after his positive COVID-19 test as a result of his unvaccinated status.
Prescott on Cooper’s vaccination status
“Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott stood by wide receiver Amari Cooper, saying he believes most players who contract COVID-19 — vaccinated or unvaccinated — miss 10 days,” explained Dallas Morning News’ Michael Gehlken on Twitter.
“That’s my teammate. That’s my brother,” stated Prescott. “I’m going to continue to back him and support him. This is everybody’s personal decision.”
Prescott’s defense of his receiver comes after the Cowboys’ offense failed to score a touchdown for the first time this season. While the offense struggled to get anything meaningful going, Cooper’s absence was noticeable. Adding to their issues, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb left the game at halftime with a head injury.
The Cowboys were left without their primary two options at receiver as their defense held the Chiefs to just three points in the second half.
Prescott’s comments do seem to reinforce what multiple Cowboys players have already said this season about the team’s chemistry. The Cowboys this season have an emphasis on team, and are attempting to define themselves as one of the best in the NFL.

Cooper out on COVID-19 list
The Cowboys have a short week coming up, playing against the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday in their traditional Thanksgiving game. Cooper will be out for at least that matchup as well as it occurs during his 10-day mandatory quarantine period. It will be the first time the wide receiver misses back-to-back games in his career.
Cooper’s status is also in question for their upcoming game against the New Orleans Saints. The Cowboys are scheduled to play back-to-back Thursday night football games and if Cooper is not cleared by then, he would continue to miss time.
Cooper has once again been one of quarterback Dak Prescott‘s favorite targets this season. Ever since arriving in Dallas via trade, the former first-round pick has been the staple at wide receiver. He has 44 catches on the year, going for 583 yards and five touchdowns. Only CeeDee Lamb has produced more for Prescott so far.
Dallas will now turn to Lamb and recently returned Michael Gallup over the next two weeks. Cedric Wilson, should become the third wide receiver while awaiting Cooper’s return.
