The Dallas Cowboys had star quarterback Dak Prescott leave the game during the fourth quarter after taking a hit to his throwing hand. Prescott came out during the drive and was examined by medical staff on the sideline while Cooper Rush came in to relieve him.

Video replay of the injury showed what exactly happened, as Prescott’s hand collided with a defender’s hand awkwardly as he threw a pass.

While Rush and Dallas began to build a drive on the field, Prescott jogged off the field into the locker room for further evaluation. With a 19-3 deficit and just over five minutes remaining in the game, Dallas appeared to make the decision to play it safe and not risk any further damage.

Dallas provided a quick update before the game ended, explaining that Prescott headed into the locker room for X-rays and was officially listed as questionable to return.

The Cowboys night ended in disappointing fashion after losing three starters to injury during a 19-3 loss to Tampa Bay. The win moved Tom Brady to 7-0 all-time against the Cowboys in his career — with Dallas being one of five NFL teams to have never beaten a Tom Brady-led team. Prescott’s night ended with a brutal 14-29 passing performance for 134 yards with one interception.

In addition to Dak Prescott’s hand injury, Dallas saw guard Connor McGovern and safety Jayron Kearse suffer serious looking lower-body injuries — potentially losing both for significant time. The following day revealed that Prescott’s injury was a bad one, as he would require surgery on his hand and miss six-to-eight weeks.

Tampa Bay’s defense held the Cowboys offense entirely scoreless after giving up a field goal on the first drive of the entire game, and gave up no touchdowns to the NFL’s highest scoring offense last year.
