Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott continues to write his name in the franchise record book, passing Dallas legend Roger Staubach in career passing yards. Prescott moved into third all-time for Dallas on Sunday after throwing for 265 yards against the Green Bay Packers.

Prescott now has thrown for 22,939 yards in his career with the Cowboys, overtaking Staubach’s 22,700 career mark.

Dak Prescott surpasses Roger Staubach

Prescott’s climb up the Dallas career leaderboards has been an impressive one given the talented stars who have appeared under center for the franchise. Six different quarterbacks have led the Cowboys offense in over 100 games — although Prescott is the only one in the top-7 to have played in less than 100 so far.

If Prescott remains at the helm for Dallas for another four full seasons, he is currently on pace to takeover as the franchise passing leader — being 10,003 yards behind Troy Aikman and 11,244 behind Tony Romo.

Prescott will likely soon surpass Staubach — and Danny White — for career passing touchdowns with the Cowboys. Prescott sits at 149 touchdowns, fifth all-time behind Staubach’s 153 and White’s 155. It is also possible that Prescott will pass Aikman in career touchdowns, as the legendary leader of the Cowboys has 165 career touchdown tosses. Tony Romo still sits far atop the leaderboard in passing touchdowns, with 248.

Also moving up the Dallas leaderboard this season was backup quarterback Cooper Rush, who led the team in Prescott’s absence due to injury this year. Rush currently sits at 18th all-time for the Cowboys with 1,444 yards.

Despite Prescott being on pace to surpass 100 career games along with his fellow Dallas stars at the quarterback position, there are actually two other Dallas players who appeared in over 100 games and threw passes for the Cowboys. Running back and football coach Dan Reeves threw 32 passes for 370 yards during his career, while Hall of Famer Drew Pearson threw seven passes for 192 yards in his illustrious career.
