Dak Prescott shares his personal pitch to Odell Beckham Jr recruiting efforts
Several Dallas Cowboys players have made pleas to Odell Beckham Jr to join them on the field, including a specific request from Dak Prescott. On Tuesday, Prescott spoke after practice about his own efforts to recruit the star free agent receiver — increasing pressure from the Cowboys franchise talents to bring in Beckham.
Dak Prescott on recruiting Odell Beckham Jr
Thanksgiving Day is ramping up to be a potentially huge game in the long-standing rivalry between the Cowboys and Giants, and one of the weirder potential outcomes on Thursday being the future destination for Beckham’s career. Prescott and his Dallas teammates have not been shy about publicly recruiting the former division rival, although he has meetings planned with both Dallas and New York after this Thursday’s game.
Prescott claimed on Tuesday that their dominant performance against the Minnesota Vikings last week was a powerful recruiting effort by itself.
“When we’re playing like [how we did in Minnesota] and you’re able to add a talent like Odell, that can be special,” said Prescott. “That just creates more weapons for not only me, but for the offense [as a whole] and for the play-caller. It’s more things for the defense to worry about.
“We’re getting him in [for a visit] and hopefully things are going great in the recruiting process.”

“He knows how much I want him here,” added Prescott. “And a lot of the guys in this locker room have reached out on their own in different ways — to make sure he understands this is a team he can help. And we want him to come help.”
Prescott’s reference to “the guys” is a nod to the recruiting efforts of stars such as Micah Parsons, Ezekiel Elliott and DeMarcus Lawrence. The trio of stars have all chimed in on the recruiting job, and Prescott admitted exactly what part he has played in the effort outside of the media attention.
“Yeah I have, sure,” said Prescott when asked about his own recruiting efforts. ” … I’ve definitely sent some messages. There’s been a little back-and-forth, just making sure that he understands that we want him here. … I don’t necessarily know about what he’s looking for when it comes to the numbers and the long-term and all that, but I know we want him here and I hope it all works out.”
Beckham has paid close attention to the Cowboys season as well, sharing a message of surprise at the Cowboys’ beatdown of the Vikings last week.
“They went [crazy] today,” Beckham tweeted after the game finished.
“They sure did,” replied Lawrence on Beckham’s message. “Make the right decision.”
