The Dallas Cowboys injury report from Wednesday’s practice lists several key players as they deal with injury, including the status of quarterback Dak Prescott. Prescott was limited in practice again on Wednesday, after being held out against the Minnesota Vikings last week with a calf injury that Dallas did not want to aggravate.

Dak Prescott injury status

After a lengthy decision process for the Cowboys ahead of their matchup with the Vikings, ultimately the team decided to be cautious with the health of their star quarterback. Prescott was seen on the field prior to the game going through all of his warmup drills and appeared fully healthy to observers.

However, when team warmups began, Prescott took reps third in the order and all indications pointed to backup quarterback Cooper Rush getting his first NFL start. Shortly after warmups, Prescott was seen running back into the locker rooms and was ruled inactive on the official report prior to the game.

In practice this week, it appears the Cowboys are continuing to play it safe with Prescott’s health as he was limited in practice on Wednesday. With a 6-1 record and a major lead over the rest of the NFC East division, the Cowboys appear to be focusing on a future playoff run.

Did Not Practice – Cowboys: T Tyron Smith(Ankle), TE Blake Jarwin(Hip)

Blake Jarwin has been a featured option of the Cowboys offense this season, and was held out of practice on Wednesday with a hip injury. Despite limited reception opportunities, Jarwin has pulled in two touchdowns so far this year as a red zone threat. Tyron Smith’s health continues to be a concern as he was held out with an ankle injury. The Cowboys’ offensive line has been dealing with injuries and the suspension of La’el Collins all season long, but have found stability behind solid backup play and flexible players filling in where needed.

Limited Participation – Cowboys: QB Dak Prescott(Calf), WR Amari Cooper(Hamstring), WR CeeDee Lamb(Ankle)

In addition to Prescott, both of his top receiver targets were limited in practice with injury. Cooper pulled in the game-winning touchdown catch against Minnesota, as well as two huge completions on the final drive of the game to put them in position to win. Despite his efforts, he had to be taken out for a couple of plays and could be seen on the sideline rubbing his hamstring and was clearly injured. Cooper and Lamb both have leg injuries they’re recovering from, another thing to watch for the Cowboys as they prepare for the second half of the season.

Full Participation – Cowboys: DE Dorance Armstrong(Ankle), CB Trevon Diggs(Ankle), S Donovan Wilson(Groin)

In some good news for the Cowboys’ defense, both Diggs and Wilson were full participants in practice on Wednesday. Diggs has been battling injuries that haven’t kept him from playing over the last few weeks, and appeared to injure his ankle during the final moments of the game against Minnesota. Despite the scare, Diggs continues to be on the field as he continues his NFL record pace for interceptions.
