Dallas Cowboy rookie DE Sam Williams out vs. Philadelphia Eagles after car accident
Sam Williams, a rookie DE for the Cowboys, had a rough start to his Christmas weekend as, on Thursday, he was involved in a car accident in Plano, Texas. Both he and the other driver went to the hospital as a precaution but both checked out fine. However, it does seem that this crash will have an impact on Williams’ status for Dallas’ divisional matchup on Christmas Eve against Philadelphia.
Per Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News, Williams will miss Saturday’s game due to a concussion and neck strain caused by the accident.
Williams has appeared in 13 games for Dallas and totaled 20 tackles, three sacks, a pass deflection, a forced fumble, and three fumble recovers. Those are highly productive numbers on a Top-10 Cowboy defense for a second-round draft pick out of Ole Miss.
Williams provided his own update on Twitter on Thursday night about his and the other driver’s status. However, it seems he will still miss Dallas’ game tomorrow, which is unfortunate for the team considering the NFC East will be on the line against the NFL’s top team.
