Dallas Cowboys cornerback Anthony Brown out for remainder of game with concussion

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Anthony Brown suffered a concussion during Sunday’s matchup with the Green Bay Packers. Brown was seen exiting the game and walking into the locker room after being involved defensively on a touchdown pass to Christian Watson in the first half.

Although it was unclear exactly when the injury took place, a later update on Brown’s injury indicated that the concussion could have been sustained when hitting the field after falling down in coverage.

“Anthony Brown is out for the rest of the game with a concussion. It might have occurred on the touchdown pass,” detailed Dallas Morning News‘ Calvin Watkins.

Dallas certainly felt the stress of their secondary being undermanned throughout the night, as Watson exploded for three touchdowns and 107 yards on just four catches. Dallas fell in overtime to the Packers despite a monster game from one of their own receivers — as CeeDee Lamb racked up 150 yards receiving and two touchdowns.

The Cowboys fell in overtime after their final drive of the game ended with a controversial no-call on pass interference. Dallas began overtime with the ball and proceeded to move down the field, until a holding call cancelled out a huge run to push them into field goal range.

After a pass was completed by Dak Prescott to Dalton Schultz to set up a third-and-three play on the edge of field goal range. Prescott threw a pass to CeeDee Lamb with Jaire Alexander defending over the top, leading to a moment that many Dallas fans — and Lamb — wanted a flag called on.

The replay angle shared on social media appears to show Alexander reaching around the front of Lamb’s body before the ball arrived, with Lamb immediately calling for a flag after the play. Dallas proceeded to try on fourth-and-three again instead of kicking a field goal of over 50 yards, turning the ball over on downs.

With Dallas on the edge of field goal range in overtime, McCarthy made the call to try and pick up the fourth-and-three down instead of kicking and missing — leaving Green Bay with good field position. Although McCarthy’s decision wasn’t immediately understood by fans, it’s likely that Green Bay’s rushing attack was in the back of his mind.
