Dak Prescott addresses offseason change to body, adjustment to diet
After Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy revealed that he believes Dak Prescott is looking “leaner” and “more flexible,” naturally, the Dallas media wanted to know what the Cowboys’ multi-million dollar man has been doing with his diet and workout regimen this offseason.
“It’s just a product, weight’s the same, it’s just a product of working on everything and not just my leg,” Prescott said. “I can’t say (my diet) is different than last year, but it’s definitely different than in college. Hasn’t changed from last year, just training a little differently and doing more rotational things that have helped drop the baby fat off. Metabolism changes.”
The Cowboys have let their star quarterback know that he’ll be more involved in the run and RPO game in 2022. However, Prescott noted that his leanness and flexibility haven’t quite led to extra speed.
“I’m leaner, I’m not faster,” Prescott clarified jokingly.
On his overall health, Prescott seemed very pleased with the progress he has made since the last offseason.
“I feel great,” Prescott said. “Not being restricted, being able to do every drill, everything, and it counts. It matters.”

Mike McCarthy notices Prescott’s ‘clearly different’
Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy addressed his star quarterback’s health this week during mini-camp, noting that Dak Prescott is “clearly different” than this time last year.
“It’s been huge,” McCarthy said. “It’s been huge for him, it’s been huge for everybody. All the little things that we do- particularly the meetings, the walkthroughs and all of that – they’re important, obviously. But just for him to have no limits has been outstanding, and I think you clearly see it in the way he’s moving this year. You look at his body: he’s clearly different than he was last year. He’s leaner, more flexible.”
A leaner, more flexible Dak is great news for the Cowboys who are hoping he can be more involved in the run and RPO game in 2022.
In the first three seasons of his NFL career, Prescott rushed for 270+ years each year, with six rushing touchdowns apiece as well. He posted his lowest yards per rush average in 2021 at 3.0 with a total of 146 yards rushing and one score, along with nine fumbles. His seven rushing first downs were also the fewest of his career.
