Mike McCarthy provides injury update on Michael Gallup
For as explosive as the Dallas Cowboys offense has been this season, there is another weapon on the way. Wide receiver Michael Gallup is set to rejoin the squad this week.
Mike McCarthy said Gallup is going to be a full participant in practice on Wednesday. From there, the expectation is that he plays on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.
Gallup played in the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before exiting in the second half. Dallas placed him on injured reserve with a calf strain. There was a chance the wide receiver played last week against the Denver Broncos but he ended up staying on IR.
On the season, Gallup has four receptions for 36 yards. He was a key part of the Cowboys’ offense throughout his previous three seasons, having 2,493 career receiving yards. 2019 was his best season, going for over 1,100 yards and having six touchdowns.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver injuries
Gallup is not the only Dallas receiver who has dealt with injuries this season. Both Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb have picked up knocks along the way but have played through them.

Both Cooper and Lamb were listed as questionable going into the Denver game. The former Alabama product has been dealing with a hamstring, while the No. 17 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft tweaked an ankle during practice.
McCarthy said Lamb’s ankle injury got better over the week and was really never a concern. Cooper was seen rolling out the hamstring on the sidelines during a Sunday Night Football game against the Minnesota Vikings. However, no official injury report was put out on him.
After being activated for Dallas, Cooper only had two receptions for 37 yards and Lamb had two receptions for 25 yards. Overall, it was a porous offensive day for the Cowboys, not just the two wide receivers.
On the season overall, Lamb has been quarterback Dak Prescott’s favorite target. The wide receiver has 46 catches for 632 yards and four touchdowns. Cooper, on the other hand, is just behind at 45 receptions and 532 yards. He does have bragging rights in the touchdown department, though, having five scores.
