Dallas Cowboys make odd NFL history versus Washington Football Team
The Dallas Cowboys laid a 56-14 beatdown of epic proportions on the Washington Football Team on Sunday Night Football. In a game where the Cowboys could do literally nothing wrong, it shouldn’t be surprising that they accomplished some historic feats. But, they achieved a very strange stat that isn’t likely to be repeated anytime soon.
Jon Machota of The Athletic revealed on Twitter that, “Tonight is the first time in Dallas Cowboys‘ history that an offensive lineman (Terence Steele) and a defensive lineman (DeMarcus Lawrence) scored in the same game.”
Below is the touchdown catch by Terence Steele, in case you happened to miss it. He was wide open on the play.
It was a rare touchdown by an offensive lineman. Not that the Cowboys needed any trickery to score. It’ll go down as one of the most thorough and methodical whippings of the 2021 NFL season.
The Dallas defense couldn’t be stopped, either. Defensive lineman DeMarcus Lawrence showed off not only his hands, but his mind-blowing speed in the open field, as he returned his interception for a touchdown.
The play shows off Lawrence’s incredible hands and excellent agility to move between the Washington players down the sideline. The former Boise State standout scored his first touchdown on the second interception of his NFL career.
Lawrence is just another reason the National Football League should be very afraid of this Dallas Cowboys team in the upcoming playoffs. They’re playing like one of the most dangerous teams in the league and they’ve got weapons all over the place.

The Dallas Cowboys’ defense has been shattering records in 2021
Trevon Diggs and Micah Parsons have both played like the NFL Defensive Player of the Year for the Cowboys’ defense all season long. Nobody has figured out the recipe to block Parsons in his rookie season out of Penn State.
Simply put, he’s posted historic numbers. In 2021, he’s been the only rookie in the past 25 years with 75 or more tackles and 10 or more sacks. He’s currently only 1.5 sacks away from the NFL rookie sack record. That record of 14.5 sacks was set by former Tennessee Titan defensive end Jevon Kearse.
Defensive back Trevon Diggs has been doing serious damage for the Cowboys on defense in 2021, too. In Sunday night’s game against Washington, he snagged his 11th interception of the season. He’s the first Cowboys’ player to intercept 11 passes since Everson Walls did it in 1981. No player had done it in 40 years. It’s an incredible accomplishment, no doubt.
Don’t look now, but the Cowboys (11-4 overall) are hitting their stride, just in time for the NFL playoffs.
