The NFL’s officials have been in the spotlight recently for their questionable roughing-the-passer calls and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better in Week 8. In the Dallas Cowboys‘ home game on Sunday versus the Detroit Lions, referees flagged star pass-rusher Micah Parsons for a hit on quarterback Jared Goff that raised eyebrows.

Parsons arrives at Goff almost simultaneously as the quarterback releases the ball and though his helmet makes contact with Goff’s chin, the linebacker almost completely lets up on the tackle. The Lions quarterback wound up on his backside but the play looked nothing short of textbook.

Detroit got 15 yards for the penalty but came up short of a touchdown on the eight-play drive. The Cowboys trailed by a field goal with a handful of minutes until the half.

Cowboys inactives for Week 7 vs Detroit Lions

Looking to rebound after a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last weekend, the Cowboys will welcome star quarterback Dak Prescott back into the starting lineup. The Lions defense has been putrid throughout the 2022 season, so the former Mississippi State star couldn’t be returning to the lineup at a better time.

Additionally, the NFC East has turned into the NFC Beast thus far, as the Cowboys may be 4-2 on the season but sit in third place, behind the undefeated Eagles and the 5-1 New York Giants. Wins are paramount and they’ll be looking for a big one on Sunday.

Although Prescott is back, Dallas is missing a few other contributors.

Detroit Lions Inactives:

  • RB D’Andre Swift
  • CB Will Harris
  • DL Michael Brockers
  • DL Charles Harris
  • S Ifeatu Melifonwu
  • T Matt Nelson
  • DL Demetrius Taylor

Dallas Cowboys Inactives:

  • QB Will Grier
  • LB Jabril Cox
  • S Markquese Bell
  • LB Devil Harper
  • CB Nahshon Wright
  • DT Neville Gallimore
