Micah Parsons opens up about social media philosophy, career goals

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons is making a name for himself as one of the more outspoken voices in the league. He’s dealt with backlash for some of his takes but he doesn’t plan to let up on his presence on Twitter.

“I would say that it doesn’t make me shy away, it makes me stand firm,” Parsons told the Pro Football Talk Live reporters. “I feel like if you have a voice, it’s a powerful thing. You just have to know where and when to use it. Like it’s a time and place for everything.

“But this is the type of stuff, I want to do things like you guys. I want to be on TV. I want to talk these things out, I’ve got a mind that I like to expand and learn new things. If I’m wrong, I’m wrong. But when I’m right, I’m right and I deserve to speak.”

Being comfortable speaking his mind could open a lot of doors for the former Penn State star after the end of his playing career. For now, Parsons is considering becoming an ambassador for the NFL.

“Maybe, maybe,” Parsons responded about potentially becoming an NFLPA rep. “I want to be an ambassador for the league someday.”

The Cowboys defender is fresh off of his second year in the league.

Parsons responds to losing Defensive Player of the Year

Micah Parsons was, for most of the NFL season, one of the favorites to win Defensive Player of the Year. But some late-season injuries slowed the young star. In the end, San Francisco 49ers’ Nick Bosa separated himself on the stat sheet.

Parsons finished second for the award, but didn’t get a single first-place vote — he was likely the No. 2 choice on most ballots, given he still finished there. Despite the result, Parsons wasn’t upset.

“By any means I do not believed I was snubbed! I respect the hell out of Bosa! It’s a mentality thing!” Parsons tweeted on Friday.

Bosa led the league with 18.5 sacks in the regular season, with five players separating him from Parsons and his 13.5 sacks.
