Dallas Cowboys division-clinching scenarios revealed
Heading into their Sunday Night Football matchup against the Washington Football Team, the Dallas Cowboys have the opportunity to wrap up the NFC East. After missing out on the playoffs last season, it would be head coach Mike McCarthy’s first appearance with the franchise.
There are now two results that could seal the deal for the Cowboys. In the afternoon window of games, the Las Vegas Raiders would have to defeat the Denver Broncos. While it may seem weird to see an AFC West team clinch the NFC East for Dallas, the two divisions faced off against each other this season.
If Denver gets able to get a win on the road, a win on Sunday would clinch the division for the Cowboys. They are just two weeks removed from winning against Washington on the road, with the return matchup at AT&T Stadium having major implications.
Dallas has dominated against their division opponents this season, currently sitting with a 4-0 record. Sunday night will be the final matchup with Washington, while Week 18 will be a road trip to Philadelphia for the season finale.
Winning your division in the NFL means a least one playoff game will be played at home. Depending on how the rest of the NFC shakes up, it could mean another game or two in Arlington for the Cowboys, pending they continue to advance.

Deion Sanders praises Dallas Cowboys rookie
Ironically, the strength of the Dallas Cowboys down the stretch has been Dan Quinn’s defense. Rookie linebacker Micah Parsons has been the star of the show, featuring across the entire field.
Joining The Rich Eisen Show, former Cowboy Deion Sanders spoke about how impressive of a player Parsons has been this season.
“Parsons is a freak man,” stated Sanders. “He’s a darn freak, man. We have a kid that plays defensive end – he was an insider linebacker that we moved to defensive end – that was All-SWAC, All-FCS, everything. James Houston, that came to us from the University of Florida. The kid just balled out this year and got all kind of accolades. But he reminds me of that guy. And my whole pitch to him was look, man, Parsons was the inside guy — now he’s outside, inside, he’s everywhere. You could do the same. Because he was the inside linebacker, but he would’ve started for us at inside so we moved him to be rushing. My god, he broke records and he’s phenomenal.
“Parsons is a freak of nature that could possibly be the defensive MVP. Arguably, they could be the MVP. Depending on how they finish up the season.”
