Dallas Cowboys top offensive linemen suspended five games per report
The Dallas Cowboys put the NFL on notice in a gritty, back-and-forth showdown with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, before ultimately falling on a late, game-sealing field goal.
The offensive line held its own for the most part without All-Pro Zack Martin, but as the anchor for Prescott up front recovers, another massive blow hit the Cowboys on Friday afternoon.
Dak Prescott looked better than he has, maybe, ever. The offensive line wasn’t perfect without All-Pro Zack Martin, but they held their own.
While the details surrounding Collins’ suspension are murky as of now, the hits keep coming for a team that showed it has taken major strides.
Cowboys injury implications
The Dallas Cowboys lost an offensive weapon in Thursday night’s season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gallup suffered a calf injury in the Cowboys’ 29-27 loss to the Buccaneers. He is expected to miss multiple weeks.
“Michael Gehlken of the Dallas Morning News reports that Gallup injured his calf during the 29-17 loss to the Buccaneers,” Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper said on Friday. “He is expected to miss three to five weeks while recovering from the injury.”
Gallup is the Cowboys’ third receiver behind Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb. On Thursday night, Gallup hauled in four receptions for 36 yards before suffering the injury. Cooper had a monster game with 13 receptions, 139 yards and two touchdowns. Lamb caught seven passes for 104 yards and a touchdown.
After a great showing, the Dallas Cowboys have instant adversity.
Martin remains in COVID-19 protocol and should be back, but those things are never certain. Now, a top offensive linemen and a top receiver are gone for at least five weeks or so.
The silver lining is Dallas doesn’t have it’s toughest matchups over the next five weeks. The Cowboys play the Chargers, Eagles, Panthers, Giants and Patriots during that stretch.

Dallas Cowboys consider trading Zeke?
Robert Griffin III proposed an interesting trade after Ezekial Elliott — who was getting rave reviews out of camp — was a non-factor in the first-half against Tampa Bay.
Griffin tweeted that he thought the Cowboys should trade Elliott to Baltimore so that he could get more touches. Elliott is the second-highest paid running back in the NFL in terms of average annual salary.
“They might as well go ahead and trade Ezekiel Elliott to the Ravens,” Griffin tweeted. “He would get more than 4 carries in the first half.
“Just wanna see Zeke get his carries to justify his contract and help other RB’s get paid in the future.”
Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is one of the brightest young offensive minds and it’s difficult for any running back to find success against the front seven with guys like Vita Vea and company blocking gaps.
This all feels unfortunate, because for the first time in a long time, Jerry Jones’ prized Dallas Cowboys team looked like he always believes they should look.
