Dallas Cowboys provide injury updates for tight ends, cut Jeremy Sprinkle
The Dallas Cowboys cut one of their tight ends on Tuesday, and provided an update on the injury status of the tight ends still on the team. Veteran tight end Jeremy Sprinkle was placed on injured reserve by the team, leaving Dallas with a seemingly clear-cut group of tight ends they will carry into the season.
Dallas Cowboys tight ends
“Cowboys tight end Sean McKeon (ankle) won’t practice today, coach Mike McCarthy said. Team has three healthy tight ends: Dalton Schultz, Jake Ferguson and rookie Peyton Hendershot. Jeremy Sprinkle was placed on injured reserve today,” shared Dallas Morning News‘ Michael Gehlken.
With McKeon injured and Dallas intending to rest their starters for the preseason finale, it appears that rookies Hendershot and Ferguson will get plenty of chances to show their growth as they make the jump to the NFL level. Sprinkle’s departure leaves Schultz as the only tight end on the Dallas roster with over three years of experience.

Sprinkle was another casualty of NFL roster cuts on Tuesday as teams were forced to trim down their rosters from 85 players to 80 before their final preseason games. Soon, teams will cut many more hopeful players as they finalize their 53-man rosters ahead of the regular season.
The former Arkansas tight end began his NFL career as a fifth-round draft pick by the Washington Commanders, scoring one receiving touchdown in each of his first three seasons. After four years with Washington, Sprinkle was picked up by Dallas where he was placed on the practice squad until October. Dallas brought Sprinkle back again this season, but it appears that the incoming rookies were talented enough to win over his potential spot on the team.
