Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy spoke with reporters on Monday about which players would be activated from the injured reserve list for week 4. No players will be activated from injured reserve this week, even though several are now eligible to return, McCarthy said via Dallas Morning News’ Michael Gehlken.

No Cowboys players moving from injured reserve

“No Cowboys players will be activated from short-term injured reserve this week, Mike McCarthy said. Players now eligible include defensive tackle Neville Gallimore (elbow), cornerback Kelvin Joseph (groin) and tight end Sean McKeon (ankle),” Gehlken tweeted.

The news that the Cowboys will be without Gallimore and Joseph for even longer comes as a blow while the team and fanbase are riding high. After a great Monday night win against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys are looking ahead with the intent to control their division.

The Cowboys’ front seven has been absolutely decimated in the early season with the following players missing playing time: Demarcus Lawrence, Keanu Neal, Dorance Armstrong, Neville Gallimore, Carlos Watkins, Bradlee Anae, and Trysten Hill.

Armstrong suffered a high ankle sprain last week, according to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News. Watkins is out with a knee sprain.

In positive news for the Cowboys’ defensive line, defensive end Randy Gregory returned to the Cowboys last week after missing time due to COVID-19.

With injuries causing the rest of the defense to step up, rookie Micah Parsons recorded four tackles and half a sack against the Eagles. As a team, the Cowboys recorded two sacks and two interceptions. Second-year cornerback Trevon Diggs intercepted his former Alabama teammate Jalen Hurts and returned the pick for a touchdown, for his third interception in three games.

Prescott’s return to his home field

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott said emotions hit him ahead of the Cowboys’ home opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.

“Yeah, I think there were a couple of times but definitely again during the national anthem,” Prescott told ESPN’s Lisa Salters of being emotional prior to the game. “Just gratitude, definitely just thankful for everything that I’ve been through. All the hard work that’s made me account for it just to be back out here doing what I love in the greatest place to play football,”

Monday signified Dak Prescott’s first time suiting up in AT&T Stadium in nearly one year after he went down with a compound fracture and dislocation to his right ankle in Week 5 of the 2020 season.

“Just in pregame early in pregame warmups with the whole team but I think the last moment was the national anthem and then it was go time,” he said when asked of the other time he got emotional.
