The Dallas Cowboys defense has taken a huge hit this week. In addition to a slew of other injuries, the Cowboys defense will be without Randy Gregory this weekend.

“Cowboys DE Randy Gregory has been ruled out for tomorrow’s game. He remains on the team’s Reserve/COVID-19 list,” tweeted The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “TE Jeremy Sprinkle has been activated from the practice squad to take Gregory’s roster spot for the game.”

Gregory’s absence comes on the same week the Cowboys lost star defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence for an extended period of time. In practice following a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Lawrence broke his foot.

Additionally, to add more fuel to the fire — joining Gregory as a scratch is starting safety Donovan Wilson. Moreover, Wilson has been on the Cowboys’ lengthy injury report throughout the week — but was listed as questionable as of Friday.

On Saturday, that status changed. Unfortunately, Wilson isn’t traveling with Dallas for Sunday’s game against the Chargers.

“Cowboys safety Donovan Wilson has been downgraded to out and will not be traveling with the team to Los Angeles,” added Machota. “Cowboys thin at safety. There should be a lot of playing time for Malik Hooker, who will be making his regular season Cowboys debut.”

As you can see, it’s been a brutal week for the Cowboys defense. Now more than ever, the Dallas offense will have to pick up the slack from the rest of their team.

Dallas Cowboys: Micah Parsons at DE?

All options are on the table for the Cowboys defense, even having rookie linebacker Micah Parsons play some defensive end. As Dallas considers the possibility, Cowboys defensive end Tarell Basham spoke on the possibility.

“He can definitely play on the edge,” Basham said. “Naturally athletic, naturally gifted, naturally knows how to rush the passer. I wouldn’t be surprised. Would you?”

With Gregory, Lawrence and Wilson out, all possibilities are on the table. Tomorrow, we’ll see how the Dallas Cowboys react to their injury troubles.
