The Dallas Cowboys released the injury report for Thursday ahead of a Monday night game with the division rival New York Giants and there’s not much change. Notably, star young defenders Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs both did not practice on Thursday, but both are expected to play on Monday.

Also on the injury report as non-participants were quarterback Dak Prescott, guard Connor McGovern, safety Jayron Kearse and tight end Dalton Schultz. Wide receiver Michael Gallup is coming back from ACL surgery and was a full participant on Thursday though it’s not been decided if he’ll play on Monday.

Diggs was listed on the report as having missed practice for personal reasons. Parsons is currently sidelined with a non-Covid illness, and got Thursday off to rest and recover in the hopes that he’ll be in fine shape come Monday evening.

“Battling a little bit of a cold, so we’re just going to be smart with him,” head coach Mike McCarthy said about Parsons on Thursday.

Getting Gallup back on Monday could be a boost for the Cowboys offense that has lacked for pass-catching juice. But even if he does play, Gallup will not be playing a full load of snaps.

“If he does play, I don’t see him playing 70 plays,” McCarthy said, via Jon Machota.

McCarthy also added that the former Colorado State star is through the physical tests at this point. The Cowboys will continue ramping up his work through Sunday, then make the ultimate decision about his snaps for Monday night.

Having an extra day of practice and prep — and therefore rest and recovery time — by virtue of playing on Monday could end up helping the Cowboys big time if it enables Parsons, Gallup and potentially even Schultz to get right by game time. Game statuses have yet to come available.
