Dallas Cowboys release Thursday injury report for Week 6 vs Philadelphia Eagles
The Dallas Cowboys surprisingly sit at 4-1, despite losing quarterback Dak Prescott a few weeks ago to a thumb injury against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Cooper Rush has performed admirably in his place. He’s taken care of the football and allowed the Cowboys’ front seven to be the dominant force of destruction that they’ve been during the first five games of the season. This Sunday night, they’ll prepare to face the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles (5-0) in an NFC East showdown that should be one of the best matchups of the weekend. On Thursday afternoon, the Cowboys dropped their Week 6 injury report ahead of the highly anticipated game. Let’s get down into the specifics.
Dallas Cowboys Thursday injury report vs Philadelphia Eagles
Did not practice — Rico Dowdle RB (ankle)
Limited participants — Dak Prescott QB (right thumb), Micah Parsons LB (groin), DeMarcus Lawrence DE (chest), Jason Peters OT (chest), Dalton Schultz TE (knee)
The first point of good news here is that Cowboys’ star quarterback Dak Prescott officially practiced in a limited fashion. Key word there is limited. He did not practice on Wednesday, which means Thursday was his first day of practice since injuring his thumb against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, Prescott was throwing to his receivers in practice, which is an encouraging sign moving forward. That doesn’t mean he’ll play on Sunday night. He might need a little bit of time as the Cowboys ease him back into the flow of action and ensure that his grip is good enough on the football to play in a game.

Another massive piece of news is that superstar linebacker Micah Parsons was limited on Thursday. He did not practice at all on Wednesday, since he’s been dealing with the groin injury he suffered against the LA Rams. It’s great news for Cowboys’ fans that he was practicing in a limited capacity on Thursday. While Parsons is a warrior and a freak of nature, groin injuries are very nagging in nature and the Cowboys will likely handle the injury with caution. His status will be one to monitor closely as Sunday night’s game approaches.
Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence was limited both Wednesday and Thursday with his chest injury, which is promising news for his status on Sunday. When paired with Parsons, Lawrence and Parsons form one of the best pass rushing tandems in the National Football League. Clearly, the Cowboys want both players out there for one of their biggest games of the season thus far.

Tight end Dalton Schultz practiced in a limited capacity on Wednesday and Thursday, which is good news for the Dallas passing attack, no matter who is under center. He’s one of their best pass catchers and they’ll need a full offensive arsenal against a very talented Philadelphia defense. It’s a bit concerning that he was limited, since he practiced in full last week, but the Cowboys are likely just being cautious.
Full participants — Quinton Bohanna DT (neck/shoulder), Jourdan Lewis CB (groin), Connor McGovern OG (ankle), Jayron Kearse S (knee), Jake Ferguson TE (knee)
Cowboys’ safety Jayron Kearse is a critical member of their secondary. Having him as a full participant in practice on Wednesday and Thursday is great news. He was a full participant in practice last week, so he should be good to go for Sunday’s matchup. Connor McGovern practiced in full on Wednesday and Thursday. He was a full participant in practice last week as well. Having him in the lineup on Sunday night should provide a major boost to the Cowboys’ offensive line.
