Dallas Cowboys release Thursday injury report for Week 9
The Dallas Cowboys on Sunday will play host to the Denver Broncos with hopes of further extending their NFC East division lead — but in order to have the best chance at doing so, they’ll need their star players back from the injury list.
The Cowboys currently have a myriad of star players on the injury report, including CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott, Trevon Diggs, Amari Cooper and more. Dallas on Thursday had a few key pieces return to the practice field, but the status of a few top players remain in doubt.

Cowboys Thursday injury report
Did not practice — WR CeeDee Lamb (ankle), TE Blake Jarwin (hip)
CeeDee Lamb suffered his sprained ankle in Wednesday’s practice, and his status for Sunday is still very much up in the air. Perhaps the Cowboys were just giving their young wideout a day of rest before testing him again in practice. Blake Jarwin, on the other hand, missed his second consecutive practice dealing with a hip injury, and head coach Mike McCarthy said that he is unlikely to play this week as he’s been “slow to come back” from his hip injury.
Limited participants — WR Amari Cooper (hamstring)
Amari Cooper had himself a very productive day with backup quarterback Cooper Rush, hauling in eight catches for 122 receiving yards and a touchdown. Cooper tweaked his hamstring, though, but looks to be on track to play Sunday — though McCarthy has not given a clear indication. Cooper has played in all seven of the Cowboys’ games this season, and Sunday should be no different, as he’s battled a number of ailments — but remained reliable — throughout the 2021 campaign.
Full participants — QB Dak Prescott (calf), CB Trevon Diggs (ankle)
Dak Prescott has been nursing a calf injury, and the Cowboys opted not to put their franchise quarterback and MVP candidate at risk last week. Instead, they went with Cooper Rush, whose 24-for-40, 325-yard, two-touchdown and one-interception performance was enough to solidify the win for Dallas. Prescott was kept out last week largely out of precaution, as reports said that he may have been capable of playing. This week, he’ll be back, as head coach Mike McCarthy said with confidence this week. The Cowboys should also have Diggs back, who sustained a sprained ankle, and is a runaway frontrunner for NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors.
