Dallas Cowboys still interested in free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
The Dallas Cowboys had an apparent lack of weapons for Dak Prescott in their playoff loss to the 49ers but they have a few opportunities to rectify the issue this offseason.
For starters, there’s the draft. It’s not the strongest class for wide receivers this year but there will still be some big wins in the group.
Then there’s free agency. Intriguing options like Juju Smith-Schutster, Jakobi Meyers and D.J. Chark all enter the market in a couple of months.
One free agent wide receiver the Cowboys have already laid ground work with is Odell Beckham Jr. Although he wasn’t healthy enough coming off of his ACL tear to join the team toward the end of the regular season, he’s now nearing 100%, according to his social media.
Dallas executive vice president Stephen Jones told reporters on Wednesday at the Senior Bowl that the team is still interested in his services.
“Oh, absolutely,” Jones said. “We brought Odell Beckham Jr. in for a visit. Decided he wasn’t ready to play… that’s the way we left it with him. Get ready to play, and then let’s revisit. We obviously had an interest for a reason.”
The Cowboys were close to bringing Beckham in ahead of their playoff run, which lasted two games. The Cowboys even had him fly out to Dallas for a very public visit. However, they determined he wouldn’t be able to significantly contribute in the postseason and, ultimately, signed former Colts veteran T.Y. Hilton instead.

Hilton ended the season with 10 catches on 15 targets for 159 yards and no scores in five games played.
In 2021, with the Rams, Beckham had 305 yards on 27 catches with five touchdowns in eight games played. Prior to his trade, he also had 232 yards on 17 catches for the Browns.
Beckham shows off progress in workout video
Ahead of his foray into free agency this offseason, Beckham posted a video of a workout to show off his progress back to 100% following his ACL tear almost a year ago.
The video, posted to his Instagram story with the caption “Progress is progress,” shows the former Rams and Giants star sprinting off of the line, cutting, making a catch, and taking off down the field. It’s a 10-second clip but it’s sure to catch the attention of teams looking for veteran assistance for 2023.
After Beckham’s workout video found its way onto Twitter, the wideout commented, “I swear I’m loadin…. Nowhere near I wanna be but exactly where I need to be.”
