Dallas Cowboys designate tight end for return from injured reserve
One regular-season game remains for the Dallas Cowboys — a road matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. While there is still a chance to move up in the NFC standings, Dallas’ main point of focus will be getting the offense back on track.
Having a crucial piece returning to the lineup could help in a big way.
The Cowboys have designated tight end Blake Jarwin to return from injured reserve. He has missed the previous nine games, dealing with a hip injury. Jarwin will return to practice on Tuesday with the hopes he can play against the Eagles on Saturday.
“He’s made a lot of progress in the last 10 days,” head coach Mike McCarthy said of Jarwin on Monday.
Jarwin was paired up with Dalton Schultz at tight end to begin the season, with the two making up a majority of the 12 personnel. Now with wide receiver Michael Gallup out for the season with a torn ACL, offensive Kellen Moore will have the ability to reintegrate Jarwin into his playcalling.
In seven games this season, Jarwin has caught 10 passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns. He was due for a breakout season after tearing his ACL in the season-opener during the 2020 season. Jarwin will now attempt to prove himself again in the finale and the playoffs.

Dallas Cowboys provide Michael Gallup injury update
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup left Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals with an apparent left knee injury. According to owner Jerry Jones, he suffered a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the season, via the Dallas Morning News’ Michael Gehlken.
Michael Gehlken initially provided detailed information about the injury as Gallup laid on the field. According to his report, medical staff members performed the Lachman test – which evaluates structural integrity of the ACL. Staff members later helped him to the medical tent before being ruling him out.
Gallup started the game well, catching three passes for 36 yards and a touchdown in the first half. However, the injury forces fellow receivers Amari Cooper and Ceedee Lamb to step up in a matchup between NFC contenders.
Despite playing just nine games so far this season, Gallup entered the game with 32 receptions for 409 yards and one touchdown. He also started in seven of eight games, but missed seven games already this season.
