Former Florida Gators and Mississippi State Bulldogs head coach Dan Mullen opted to refrain from making a selection for Saturday’s Florida-Georgia game.

However, the new ESPN analyst shared his predictions for eight other Week 9 games on Friday ahead of kickoff, including a couple of surprising upset picks.

Some Week 8 upsets changed the big picture for the postseason and apparently, Mullen believes there’s more to come in Week 9. Of his eight game predictions from last week, he hit on six of them – missing the Oklahoma State and LSU wins over Texas and Ole Miss.

Mullen sticks with the general status quo on most of his predictions, taking the higher-ranked opponent over the lower-ranked or unranked opponent six out of eight selections. However, he believes there will be one major upset for an ACC squad and another in the SEC.

Despite Notre Dame hitting the road to face Syracuse on Saturday, Mullen has the Fighting Irish toppling the one-loss squad. The Orange are attempting to rebound from their close loss versus Clemson. However, Notre Dame could also really use some momentum from Week 9 going into their own Week 10 matchup versus the Tigers. On Sunday, the Orange were 1.5-point favorites in Vegas. The line has shift to 2.5 over the last few days.

The former Gators head coach predicts a bit of pandemonium in the Arkansas-Auburn game on Saturday as well. Sam Pittman’s Razorbacks are 3.5-point favorites in Vegas but the Tigers are the home squad and they’re in desperate straits after taking three consecutive losses.
