Daniel Suárez isn’t happy with NASCAR for allowing Katherine Legge to race at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday.

Legge made her Cup Series debut in the Shriners Children’s 300 and outside of an early spin, stayed out of trouble — until Lap 215. Legge lost control coming off a turn, making slight contact with Josh Berry. Suárez had nowhere to go and broadsided Legge. Suárez was having a quality race, running sixth at the time. His day was ruined after the hard contact with Legge.

Suárez didn’t take issue with Legge; he did with NASCAR, he said on his vlog.

“There’s nothing wrong with her. What is wrong is NASCAR,” Suárez said, via Steven Taranto of CBS Sports. “They cannot allow somebody with no experience to run in the Cup Series. Plain and simple. “You go to Las Vegas, to a fast track, it’s freaking dangerous. You cannot do that. And then here, honestly, this is not a so slow pace. Like, I hit her, and I was running 100 mph slowing down already.”

After the contact, Suárez commented, “f*cking lappers, man.” Suárez finished a disappointing P23. He was understandably upset to have his race impeded by a wreck for the second straight week.

Last week at COTA, Suárez spun out and his day was ended when his teammate, Connor Zilischslammed into him amidst a sea of smoke. There wasn’t much else he could have done, but it ended the day for both drivers.

After leaving the infield care center, Legge talked about her debut. It wasn’t what she hoped for, but there were positives as well.

“It was a really rough start,” Legge said, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. “We made some changes to the car overnight, and they were awful. I was hanging on like the first stint, I was so loose and I was just hanging on to it. Then we kept making adjustments and we kept making the car way more stable for me. Then at the end there I think we were relatively quick compared to the field.

“So, it wasn’t bad. I wish we hadn’t made the changes, but you know, we’re trying to find some pace and we’ve found it throughout the race, but it was a rough start.”

This is just the beginning for Legge in NASCAR. And rather than attempting an oval again, perhaps her next start will come on a road course which would far more play to her strengths.
