Davante Adams calls loss to Saints 'really good wake-up call'
The Green Bay Packers were lifeless in the Week 1 game against the New Orleans Saints. While Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams have insinuated the 2021 season is their last dance together, it began with a whimper.
In the loss, Adams caught five passes for 56 yards. On Wednesday, Adams joined NFL NOW — he reiterated the fact that the Packers’ energy levels didn’t reach necessary levels in the season-opener.
“It just got weird, man. It was a weird game,” Adams said. “We had like 12 plays in the first half. Our defense wasn’t getting off the field and that just wasn’t our best display. We came out really flat and I think that it’ll be a really good wake-up call for us.”
After years of tremendous success, the bar is high for both Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers. However, they’ve never experienced a loss quite like the one they suffered last weekend.
Fortunately, the offensive slip-up for Green Bay happened in Week 1 — the Packers offense can only go up from there.

Aaron Rodgers addresses poor Week 1 performance
Adam’s quarterback wasn’t ready to call of the whole season after the Packers’ 38-3 loss to New Orleans on Sunday. The reigning NFL MVP was disappointed with his performance, but he wasn’t ready to go as far saying Green Bay was embarrassed — as his coach Matt LaFleur did.
However, he quarterback was unhappy with his performance. Rodgers finished the day 15 of 28 for 133 yards, throwing two interceptions as the offense only produced three points. Ironically, backup quarterback Jordan Love even played a large part of the fourth quarter.
“I’ll let him use those words and I’ll use, ‘it’s just one game,’” Rodgers said in his postgame press conference. “We played bad. I played bad. Offensively we didn’t execute very well. One game. We’ve got 16 to go.”
While many around the Green Bay Packers felt like the world was falling after Sunday, Rodgers is calm, cool and collected. While Jermichael Finley is bashing his former quarterback, Aaron Rodgers can quiet everyone against the Detroit Lions in Week 2.
