Davante Adams Madden rating top of the 2022 class

The ratings for position players in Madden NFL 22 are out, and Davante Adams’ rating tops all wide receivers in the league. With the coveted overall 99 rating, he edges out fellow wideouts DeAndre Hopkins and Tyreek Hill.

Davante Adams Madden rating – 99 overall

After being ranked fifth best wide receiver in Madden NFL 21, Adams has jumped his rating from 94 to 99 with an incredible year. In the 2020 season, he tallied 1374 yards and a stellar 18 touchdowns. Contributing to his 99 overall rating, he comes in rated in individual categories at the peak. His overall catching ability is a 99, spectacular catch ability is 98, and his ability to catch in traffic is at 97.

These numbers directly reflect his success in the previous season. He caught 77.2% of all passes thrown his direction. With a career best yards per game and receiving touchdowns, he also earned top marks in his route running abilities in the game. With a 99 rating in release and short route running, he will be open.

Competition

There is only one spot at the top. It spotlights his success when you look at who he beat. Coming in at a 98 overall rating are wide receivers DeAndre Hopkins and Tyreek Hill.

Always topping the ratings in speed, Hill (nicknamed Cheetah) is one of the fastest players in the sport. He is the only receiver managing a 99 in speed in the entire game, and the only top-10 wideout to even break 92 in that category.

Hopkins rivals him in catching ability in the game, ranked at 99 in catch ability, spectacular catch ability, and catching in traffic. Stefon Diggs and Julio Jones round out the top five at the position, an amazing class of talent in which to lead.

Green Bay Packers and Davante’s future

The honor of being ranked as the best receiver in the NFL comes at an interesting time for Adams. He is set to become a free agent after this 2021 season. So far, he has been unable to agree on a new deal with the Packers. He feels he’s earned a contract that would make him the highest paid wide receiver in the league.

As per his comments to Packers News, “The way that this league goes, if you perform well, you’re supposed to be compensated properly for that.” As of yet, the Packers don’t seem to agree and haven’t agreed to any terms with training camp already underway. This is another looming shadow over the upcoming season for Green Bay, alongside the future of quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

That price point is steep too, with Hopkins currently making $27.25 million this year with the Arizona Cardinals. The Dallas Cowboys made wideout Amari Cooper the highest total contract offer, currently making $100 million over five years. The market has shifted with these deals, and Adams wants his share.
