Davante Adams reveals chances of extension with Green Bay Packers
The 2021 offseason has been a long and hard one for Packers fans. It all started with reports about Aaron Rodgers’ desire to leave the team, which escalated throughout the spring and summer all the way into camp. Then there were the cryptic messages from Davante Adams and injury to David Bakhtiari. With the Rodgers situation temporarily neutralized, Packers fans can breathe a sigh of relief and enjoy the opening week of football, or not.
The tensions between Packers players and the front office continue to dominate the headlines as Week One approaches. Adams, the Packers star wide receiver, recently went public with his thoughts on the possibility of Packers extension before the regular season.
“No,” Adams told ESPN’s Rob Demovsky. “No chance.”
Earlier reports place the two sides far apart in their extension negotiations, which Davante Adams reportedly cut off going into the season. He is set to become a free agent after the 2021 season.
Adams has 546 career receptions for 6,568 yards and 62 touchdowns, including an 18-touchdown season in 2020.
The seven-year NFL veteran feels he earned a contract that would make him the highest paid wide receiver in the league, while the Packers have evaluated him lower.
Connection with Aaron Rodgers
With widespread speculation about Aaron Rodgers’ future in Green Bay beyond this season, it is no surprise that Davante Adams has reservations about signing an extension.

It has been rumored that Rodgers has been unhappy with the Packers for two consecutive off-seasons. Many wondered if Rodgers would even report to Green Bay for the 2021 season.
The quarterback and wide receiver have developed a great connection on the field and off the field. Since joining up in 2014, the duo has combined to reach 10 Pro Bowls and made three All-Pro teams.
Rodgers also won the 2014 and 2020 NFL MVP award. The duo took the Packers to the NFC championship last season, where they lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Relationship with the front office
Asked about his relationship with Gutekunst this offseason, Rodgers told Around the NFL writer Nick Shook.
“I think it’s a work in progress,” Rodgers said. “I think relationships aren’t formed in the matter of a couple days. There’s time where the respect grows and the communication follows. I think the greatest relationships that you have with your friends and loved ones involve conversations and flow. You can not talk to a close friend for a few months and pick up right where you left off.”
