Houston (Texas) North Shore On300 receiver Quanell X Farrakhan Jr. committed to Deion Sanders and Colorado on Saturday during a live broadcast on the On3 YouTube Channel.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Farrakhan chose to play in Boulder over his other finalists in Nebraska and UCLA.

A four-star recruit, Farrakhan took his official to Colorado the weekend of June 21.

“Really just the feel when I got up there,” Farrakhan said. “Them treating me like family. Everything was so real down there. I’m big on relationships. Ever since I got the offer from Colorado they were always checking on me making sure I’m good outside of football.”

Farrakhan excited about the program trajectory under Coach Prime

Ranked by the On3 Industry as the nation’s No. 38 receiver and No. 259 prospect overall, Farrakhan loves the excitement that surrounds Sanders and the Colorado program.

“Being part of what Coach Sanders has going on,” he said. “I feel like he has the potential to bring in key pieces he needs to go to a National Championship. I feel like me being part of that I can be part of something special.”

Future position coach Jason Phillips and assistant director of player personnel Devin Rispress led the charge in recruiting Farrakhan to Colorado.

“Coach Rispress always calling my phone, texting me, making sure I’m good,” Farrakhan said.

“Coach Phillips always contacting me to make sure I’m good also. When I was down there we got to spend time together and eat and I feel Coach Phillips have a great connection.”

Farrakhan bringing dynamic ability to Boulder

Over the last two seasons Farrakhan turned 84 receptions into 1,339 yards and 19 touchdowns. He had five rushing touchdowns and a kickoff and punt return for scores as well. He looks forward to playing in Pat Shurmur’s offense.

“They’re always getting the ball out,” Farrakhan said. “They’re always throwing the ball. As a receiver that’s what you want to be part of. Them airing the ball out is big for me. Being in that offense will help me shine at the end of the day.”

Time spent with Sanders during his official visit was motivating.

“It was an unbelievable experience when I had talked with Coach Prime,” Farrakhan said. “He said I have to get up there and be a dog and do what I do best when I get up there. I want to showcase what I can do on the field and off the field.”

Farrakhan becomes commit No. 6 for Colorado in the 2025 class.
