2024 4-star QB Demond Williams Jr. is 'super excited' for his commitment
On Oct. 11, Chandler (Ariz.) Basha four-star quarterback Demond Williams Jr. announced a top 10 of Utah, Arkansas, UCLA, California, Oregon, Virginia Tech, Arizona, Ole Miss, Michigan State and Arizona State. Almost two months later, Williams Jr. is ready to reveal his decision.
The 6-foot-0, 180-pound signal-caller will be announcing his commitment on Dec. 30. Even though Williams Jr. is four days away from an announcement, he already knows which school is getting his commitment.
“I definitely know where I’m going at this point,” Williams Jr. told On3. “I think that I’m 100% locked in to the school.”
This season, Williams Jr. threw for 2,339 yards, 23 touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed for 764 yards and five scores. His play helped Basha win the Arizona Interscholastic Association Open Division championship over Scottsdale (Ariz.) Saguaro.
Towards the end of his junior campaign, Williams Jr. began thinking about committing in the coming weeks. When the four-star felt like he was ready, he spoke with his family. They wanted me to make sure it was a “great decision” for the quarterback.
“I definitely wanted to commit pretty early my whole high school career,” said Williams Jr., the No. 251 overall prospect and No. 19 quarterback in the 2024 On3 Consensus. “I just felt like this would be a great time for me to take an opportunity that I (felt) would be a great opportunity for me.”
Williams Jr. took game visits this season to Arizona (Sept. 10), Ole Miss (Oct. 15) and UCLA (Nov. 19). He previously visited the Wildcats, Rebels, California and Oregon among others over the summer.

The Arizona native is withholding a college football destination until Friday. However, he identified why one school won out for his services.
“I would say my connections and the relationships that I built with that coaching staff and the vibe of being able to play there for three-to-four years,” Williams said.
Once Williams Jr. is committed, he plans to help recruit prospects and “try to build the best class that I can.” Until then, the blue-chip quarterback is looking forward to wrapping up his recruitment.
“I’m super excited,” Williams Jr. said. “It’s definitely been a lifelong dream since I was a kid to be able to do it like this, at my school with an announcement and stuff like that.”
