On Thursday evening, the Denver Broncos hired former Minnesota Vikings’ linebackers coach Greg Manusky to coach their inside linebackers, according to Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network. Manusky has an extensive amount of coaching experience at the NFL level. He’s worked with the Vikings, Commanders, Colts, Chargers, and the 49ers. Recently, Manusky spent time on the collegiate level with the Kentucky Wildcats as a defensive quality control assistant in the 2020-2021 season.

He served as the defensive coordinator for the 49ers (2007-2010), Chargers (2011), Colts (2012-2015), and the Commanders (2017-2019). When he was with Kentucky, the Wildcats finished with a 5-6 overall record. They finished their season with a win in the Gator Bowl vs. the N.C. State Wolfpack.

During his playing career, Manusky originally signed with the Washington Commanders and remained with them from 1988 to 1990, when Joe Gibbs was the head coach. After two seasons with them, he suited up for the Vikings from 1991 to 1993, when Dennis Green was the head man in Minnesota. After playing with the Vikings, Manusky moved on to the Kansas City Chiefs, where he wrapped up his NFL playing career from 1994 to 1999. In 178 games played, he racked up 237 tackles. After he finished up his playing career, he got into coaching ranks in the NFL.

During his playing days in college, Manusky was a dominant inside linebacker with the Colgate Raiders. He was a former two-time first team All-Patriot League defender (1986 and 1987). Manusky was also named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year in 1987. The gifted inside linebacker was also named a Division I-AA All-American in 1987.

The Denver Broncos’ 2022-2023 season was by all accounts, an unmitigated disaster with Russell Wilson at quarterback and Nathaniel Hackett as the head coach. It’s precisely why the franchise brought in Sean Payton this offseason. They think that he can help fix the extensive number of problems that Wilson struggled with last year. Now, Manusky will join Payton’s coaching staff in the hopes of rebuilding the Broncos.
