WATCH: Drake London gets emotional surprise from parents on NFL Draft night
The NFL Draft represents a life-changing day in the lives of a great number of athletes. It’s an emotional day, feelings of accomplishment, anticipation and everything in-between reign supreme — and that was especially true for former USC star wide receiver Drake London.
London was the first wide receiver selected on Thursday, with the Atlanta Falcons taking the former Trojans star. After his moment on the stage with Roger Goodell, London was able to watch a pre-recorded video where his parents spoke about how proud they are of him. Additionally, London’s sister was also featured, and the sentimentality was at an all-time high.
It’s a beautiful moment, and you may need a box of tissues nearby while watching.
As you can see, the emotions of making not just his dreams come true, but the dreams of his family were felt in one wonderful video. It’s easy to see why teams have been high on not just the player that London is, but the person, when his support system is so strong.
Drake London gave USC his all, even through some tough seasons. Now, he’ll be ready to do the same for the Falcons. There’s no arguing that Atlanta got a good one in the former Trojans play-maker.

More on Drake London, Atlanta Falcons
Furthermore, experts are already salivating at the potential Drake London possess for his NFL career. To illustrate, Matt Miller of ESPN said that London will be able to put together the best rookie season — stating that he can make an immediate impact.
“Drake London has a great situation in Atlanta with defenses focusing so much on tight end Kyle Pitts,” Miller said. “His ability to dominate in the red zone while posting up smaller defensive backs makes him a huge Day 1 impact player. And with quarterback Marcus Mariota looking to remind folks why he was the No. 2 pick in the 2015 draft, he will be looking London’s way often.”
The hype is real. The future is bright for Drake London, and the Atlanta Falcons have their cornerstone wide receiver to move forward into a new era with.
